Following registration, parents will be asked to complete an Examination Entry Form giving the School consent to contact their daughter’s current school for recent progress reports and a confidential Headteacher’s reference. This form also gives you the opportunity to enter your daughter for any of the Gifted and Talented Scholarships that are available. Please click on the link below for more information.
Academic and Gifted & Talented Scholarships
Each candidate will be asked to complete 4 x 45 minute papers which will consist of a General Paper, designed to test the student's ability to think critically, logically and creatively and write coherently; followed by 3 subject papers from a choice of the following A level subjects: Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, French, Geography, German, History, Latin and Greek (one paper covering both - candidates can choose to do one or the other, or both sections), Physics, Religious Studies and Spanish.
The School will determine the offer of an Academic Scholarship on the basis of results from the papers outlined above, the strength of the candidate’s predicted GCSE (or equivalent) grades, an interview with the Headmistress and Head of Sixth Form and the confidential reference(s) provided by her current school. Offers made will be conditional upon the candidate achieving at least nine GCSEs at grades A* to C (including English and Mathematics), with grades A* or A in the subjects she wishes to study at A level.
The Assessments will be held in mid-November and results letters will be sent out two weeks later. If the School makes a formal offer of a place and the parents choose to accept it, they will be required to complete an Acceptance Form and return it with a deposit within a fixed period of time in order to secure the place.
For candidates who have missed the November Assessments places may still be available. Please contact Jennifer Gandy, Registrar, to discuss this further. You should not be discouraged from applying at any stage.
