Days of Recollection

A girl’s life at Mayfield is busy with study and extra-curricular activities. In the midst of this, we recognise the need for everyone to take time out for reflection.

A girl’s life at Mayfield is busy with study and extra-curricular activities. In the midst of this, we recognise the need for everyone to take time out for reflection.

Every year group has one day during the course of the academic year when they are taken off site, to Aylesford Priory for a day of recollection. These days are run by the Chaplain and are attended by form tutors and boarding staff. They are designed to be informal, yet formative. The themes align with each year group’s Cornelian Principle.

Retreats
Days of Recollection are such a positive experience at Mayfield that a few years ago girls requested a residential retreat weekend be offered. Each year Lower School and Middle School are offered the opportunity to go to St Vincent’s Retreat Centre in Whitstable which is run by the Youth Team of the Diocese of Southwark. As well as taking part in informative and formative sessions and prayer times, the girls have the opportunity to go bowling and visit the local attractions in Whitstable. The Christian witness of the young volunteers who run the team is also an invaluable part of the weekend and the girls look forward to seeing them every year.
