Drama

There are plenty of opportunities to take part in drama outside the confines of the curriculum.

The Drama department offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere fostering a sense of enjoyment where students can develop their communication skills, self-esteem and confidence and encouraging  participation from every part of the school community

Our drama productions are often staged with local boys’ schools.  We take a production on tour every two years and participate in the biennial Mayfield Festival. We organise frequent theatre visits both locally and to London, and run a Gifted & Talented programme for Year 8 and 9 girls.

Individual and shared Speech and Drama lessons are popular, preparing girls for LAMDA examinations.

The A level drama students run a drama club for Year 7 students each week, which culminates in a public performance in the Spring Term.

The Creation of a Queen - A Level Drama Production
April 2016

'The Creation of A Queen' - the A level devised drama piece took place on Tuesday 19th April.  The girls rose to the occasion, successfully performing characterisations of both Witches and Queens. The story was a creative adaptation on the life of Gruach, reportedly the inspiration for Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth.
