Ceramics students visit Horniman Museum
On Wednesday 14th
October 54 of our ceramics students from years 10-13 travelled to the Horniman Museum,
Forest Hill, South London for a day’s study
visit to inspire their future creative work.
Founded by the Victorian tea
trader Frederick Horniman in 1901, the museum is arranged over three floors and
includes an Aquarium, Natural History Gallery, Africa Worlds Gallery and Music
Gallery.
As it is less crowded and on
a smaller scale than the large central London museums, the girls were able to
analyse, take photographs and draw the exhibits in a more intimate and
purposeful way without distraction.
The girls found the trip thought-provoking and inspiring and returned to school itching to get back in the
studio to put their new creative ideas into practice.
