Mayfield are County Cross Country Champions on first time out

For the first time in many years we had junior and inter girls' team taking part in the English Schools Cross Country County Round on Thursday 8th October.  The junior team ran really well, especially when you consider that it was the first time for most of them in competition conditions.  Georgia Weston (Y8) should be congratulated on the outstanding 4th place she achieved out of a field of 60 girls and Linsday Bushell (Y7) did very well to come 15th.

The highlight of the day was the amazing performance by the intermediate team who won their age group convincingly, and became the Sussex Intermediate Cross Country Champions on their first time out. Elinor Bushell (Y10) put in a superb performance to take 3rd place, while the rest of the team also excelled, with Louisa Bulow (Y9) coming in 4th, Poppy Edwards (Y9) 7th and Bethan Longley (Y10) 8th. This was a very strong field with several club runners taking part so the girls have done exceptionally well. They go on to the South of England Regional Round in November.
