Lower School Knitting Club
A knitting club for girls in Years 7 and 8 has started up this term. Every Tuesday lunchtime, small groups of girls will be found in Lower School developing their knitting skills.
The plan is for each girl to knit a square which will be sewn together to make a blanket. Most of the club members this term are beginners, and so progress so far has been quite slow. However, the brightly coloured squares are starting to take shape, some with interesting lacy designs courtesy of some dropped stitches!
It is hoped that as the knitting skills develop girls will start to knit more adventurous items. The club is run by Mrs Varley, but the Chaplain, Rachel and Mrs McGovern are regular visitors lending a helping hand with those dropped stitches!
"The girls rush in sometimes very enthusiastic & wanting to teach their friends. Having the nice new sofas in the Lower School Library has made it a much cosier environment conducive to social knitting!"
-Mrs Varley, Head of Science and foundress of Lower School Knitting Club
