Marianne takes on Undergraduates in Modern Pentathlon
In March, Marianne Blaxland, a Year 12 student, travelled to Oxford University to take on undergraduates from across the country in the BUCS Modern Pentathlon Championships. A member of the Mayfield Modern Pentathlon Squad, Marianne was competing against the top forty university level pentathletes in the country.
After the first event, riding, Marianne was lying in a very strong 11th place out of 38. She fought hard throughout the fencing, swimming and combined running and shooting to finish in 26th position overall, a tremendous achievement, especially considering she was competing against pentathletes who were at least two years older than her!
Congratulations to Marianne, and we look forward to continuing success at the National Pentathlon Championships in June.
