Talented Sixth Former awarded top University Scholarship
Yoyo Lei, Year 13, is celebrating after being awarded a scholarship to Cardiff University to study Ceramics. The award is even more impressive for being unexpected: Yoyo had not applied for the award, so was surprised to receive a letter on May 3 from the University which explained that they wanted to offer the scholarship in the hope that she would take up a place at Cardiff, which is one of the UK's top modern Universities.
Mr Rees, Head of Ceramics commented: “It is a fantastic achievement for Yoyo and a true recognition of the highly skilful and creative work that she produces in both Art and Ceramics. She is a very thoughtful and industrious student who will make the most of the opportunities presented to her at Cardiff which has an excellent reputation for Art and Ceramics. It should also be noted that Yoyo was offered a place without needing a foundation course, a requirement for most Arts courses at university.”
Yoyo’s work can be seen alongside that of other talented Art and Ceramics students at the upcoming Art & Ceramics exhibition on June 15 at Mayfield.
