BOARDING HOUSEMISTRESS
Residential post required for September 2020

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified graduate, with a proven track record in boarding and pastoral care, for this crucial role. This is an exciting time for boarding at Mayfield: we are currently extending and improving our boarding provision and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leading role in developing the boarding provision throughout the School.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to the Catholic ethos of the School and to the education of girls. He or she will be responsible for the care and well-being of our boarders, manage the Boarding House staff and be expected to be involved in all aspects of Mayfield life, including teaching a reduced academic timetable (where applicable). Most curriculum subjects will be considered. Candidates with relevant non-teaching experience are welcome to apply.

Graduate Assistant – Teaching and Boarding
Starting September 2020

A residential post for the 2020/2021 academic year incorporating both pastoral and academic responsibilities, this would suit someone seeking teaching experience, and who is interested in being fully involved in the life of a boarding school.

It would include involvement in the school’s academic provision and extracurricular activities, as well as working in the school’s boarding community to provide care and support for the girls living in the school.

Candidates will have a flexible, friendly approach and be able to act as a positive role model to students at the School.

Salary £15,000 per annum. Accommodation and meals provided. The role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

Teacher of Religious Studies
Permanent contract from September 2020

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated graduate to teach challenging and stimulating Religious Studies lessons throughout the School. The successful candidate will have a good degree in a relevant discipline and possess strong subject knowledge.  Religious Studies is flourishing at Mayfield, with girls achieving outstanding GCSE and A Level results. The position will suit an NQT (capable of teaching at A level with training and support) or someone looking for their first move. The ability to teach another subject at KS3 would be advantageous.

MINIBUS DRIVER and Ad Hoc Drivers required

Hours - Part-time, Monday to Friday, evening only, term-time + Pay rate - £11.77 per hour whilst driving; £9.41 per hour waiting time

We are seeking a friendly, reliable and motivated Minibus Driver to join our existing team who provide safe and secure transport to students. 

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, a sound knowledge of the local area, be sensible and resourceful, and have a positive and flexible working attitude. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills as they will be representing the School at all times.  A clean driving licence is essential and priority will be given to anyone with a Driver Qualification Card.  Please note that drivers must be over 25 years’ of age to comply with our insurance requirements. 

We are currently looking for a driver to take on a regular run after school (approximately 1.5 hours per day). In addition to these regular hours drivers have the opportunity to undertake ad hoc journeys e.g. airport runs or School outings, if they wish.

Pastry Chef – no evenings or weekends
£24,082 per annum

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Pastry Chef to join our dynamic kitchen brigade.

Reporting to the Catering Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of deserts, pastries and other baked goods to meet our high standards across the School. They will have the opportunity to work with the Catering Management Team on the development of menus and can let their imagination run riot for functions or School events!

Applicants will have experience working as a Pastry Chef and will be comfortable working both as a team member and an individual. They will have excellent communication skills and be used to delivering high quality products to deadlines. 

This position is offered on a full time 37.5 hours per week basis working from 07:00 to 15:00 Monday to Friday. Opportunities for overtime are available.

Weekend Chef – Term time 4 days a week
£12.35 per hour

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Chef to join our dynamic Catering Team at the weekend.

Reporting to the Catering Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of high quality, nutritionally balanced food to our boarders and staff across the weekend period. They will manage the weekend team and will have the opportunity to work with the Catering Management Team to develop exciting new menus.

Applicants will have experience working as a Chef and will be comfortable working both as a team member and an individual. The position will ideally suit someone looking for their first management role. They will have excellent communication skills and be used to delivering high quality food to deadlines.  They will enjoy working in a team environment and be able to build positive working relationships both inside and outside of the kitchen environment.

This position is offered on a 31 hours per week (term time only) basis with the successful candidate working a 12 hour shift on Saturdays and Sundays with shorter 4 hour shifts on Fridays and Mondays to allow for preparation and planning. Opportunities for overtime are available.
