Chapel

Built in the early 14th Century, the Chapel is a beautiful and historic building that is used for a variety of religious and cultural events. The Chapel is a place of worship for pupils of all faiths, as well as a place for reflection and contemplation. Throughout the year, it is open to the Mayfield village community for services and other events.

Theatre/ Concert Hall

This beautiful 1930s building is a purpose-built performance space supporting music, dance, drama and public events. Each year, the building hosts a wide programme of events, including School Music Concerts, the Annual Dance Show and school drama productions. Every two years, we also welcome the Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition, part of the famous Mayfield Festival of Music and Arts.

St Cecilia’s Centre for Music

Our music facilities are centred in St Cecilia’s, a modern, purpose‑built department named after the patron saint of music. The building features 12 sound‑treated practice rooms, a dedicated music technology classroom where students create both classical and contemporary music, and a modern practice space equipped with a drum kit, band equipment and percussion. Students also benefit from access to two baby grand pianos within the department and three grand pianos across the wider school site, including a concert‑quality Steinway housed in the concert hall. Designed with musical performance in mind, the concert hall offers an inspiring professional setting, while the large organ in the school chapel provides pupils with the opportunity to learn this instrument on site.

Dance Studio

The Dance Studio is home to Mayfield’s dancers, who perform a wide range of styles including contemporary, jazz, ballet and hip-hop. Dance forms part of the PE curriculum for all girls, ensuring every student can develop confidence, coordination and creativity. The studio also hosts a variety of extracurricular dance clubs, including Beginners’ Ballet and Commercial Dance & Jazz Club.

Cookery School

Mayfield’s Cookery School features 16 stations and 8 cookers and is available to all girls at the School, forming a key part of the extracurricular and Sixth Form Life Skills programmes. It is also used for Mayfield Food and Nutrition curriculum classes.

The Library is a treasure trove of knowledge, containing over 12,000 books and periodicals. It is a popular place for pupils to study, research, and relax and the girls are supported by the full-time Librarian who is on hand to provide help and guidance. There is also a dedicated Library in Lower School for pupils in Years 7 and 8.
