Marcio Dowgan - Teacher of Music
Marcio Dowgan was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he trained in classical guitar and achieved a degree in composing and conducting. He then went on to teach music to adults and children in Brazil before moving to Melbourne, Australia.
In Melbourne, Marcio obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts - specialising in Ethnomusicology and the study of traditional musical cultures. He also taught Portuguese and developed a career in social care and community work, where he gained broad experience working with adults and children in a variety of settings.
England offered Marcio the wonderful opportunity to reconnect with music through a teacher training programme, which eventually led him to a PGCE and his new position as Teacher of Music at Mayfield.
He is very enthusiastic about his new role as Teacher of Music and is looking forward to supporting the girls in developing their musical abilities across a variety of genres and traditions, both in the classroom and ensemble practice.
When he’s not working, Marcio loves to swim and often finds his way to the closest beach. Not surprisingly, travelling is also on the top of the list of his favourite things to do.
