Gold for Mayfield at Chemistry Olympiad

Mayfield's Sixth Form Scientists picked up four Gold awards at the recent Chemistry Olympiad, the leading chemistry competition for secondary students across the British Isles. Designed to challenge and inspire, the Olympiad is an opportunity for students to push themselves further and excel in the field of chemistry.

The four students who picked up Gold awards were Victoria B, Victoria D, Valeria and Janna. Other notable achievements included Ewa, who received a Silver award, and Jemima, who was awarded Bronze.

David Turner, Chemistry Teacher at Mayfield, commented: "I'm so proud of the achievements of our Chemists, especially as only 9% of Chemistry students across the country achieved a Gold Award.”

John Doy, Head of Sixth Form at Mayfield, said: "We are delighted with these results. Four of our A Level Chemistry students received offers from Cambridge for science-based courses this year which is testament to the hard work of the students and the whole science department. It is genuinely exciting to see young women fired up about science and technology."
