A pudding fit for The Queen
The British pudding comes in all shapes and sizes and at the beginning of term we launched a competition to find Mayfield's very best puddings, in honour of Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The competition was fierce and both the Juniors (Years 7 and 8) and Seniors (Years 9-13) came up with some amazing results, producing their puddings in a "bake off" style event under the watchful eyes of head judges Samantha Rain, Bake Off Creme de la Creme Winner (2016), and Christopher Moore, Mayfield's Director of Catering. The prize? The opportunity for your pudding to be served to your colleagues as part of Mayfield's lunch menu later in the term (as well as the kudos of course!)
The winners were:
Seniors' Competition - Liberty and Lucia from Glennie House for their Mini Victoria Sandwich.
Juniors' Competition - Alice and Sonya from Bronte House for their Barbados cream, Shortbread sticks and Syrniki.
Samantha Rain, Bake Off Creme de la Creme Winner (2016), who judged the competition alongside Christopher, said: "I was really impressed by the standard of baking, and just as importantly, the presentation, which was definitely fit for the Queen. Congratulations to all involved for your magical creations."
Christopher Moore, Mayfield's Director of Catering, commented: "The standard of baking for both competitions was incredibly high. But for the Platinum Jubilee we weren't just looking for the perfect taste, we wanted a pudding fit for the Queen and one with a memorable story. This is what Liberty and Lucia and Alice and Sonya were able to do - well done girls for your fantastic puddings. Bake off beckons!"
