A Football First for Mayfield

Today saw Mayfield play their first ever competitive football fixture, when our U13s took on Sevenoaks Prep. Football was introduced earlier this year and has proved to be extremely popular with the girls.

The anticipation and excitement surrounding the first fixture had been building for some weeks and when the game finally arrived, the girls didn’t disappoint. Alongside being fantastic hosts and demonstrating great sportsmanship, they were also able to play some amazing football on their way to a 3-1 win.

Eva in Year 7, who scored two goals, said: "It was the first game of football Mayfield has ever played against another school, and we won! It was very fun and exciting and I hope we can play another match again soon. Well done everyone!"

Eleanor in Year 8 said: "Our first football match for Mayfield and we won! It was a very exciting game and we all played fantastically."

Georgina Fletcher, Mayfield's Director of Sport, said: "I'm delighted we have been able to introduce Football as another competitive team sport, to go alongside Netball, Hockey, Cricket, Athletics, Swimming and Equestrian. Our first match was a great occasion and we look forward to continuing to grow our football provision - next season we will be introducing an U15 team, who will play in the ISFA Regional Girls' League."
