PA to the Headmistress – Fixed Term Contract until Easter 2022

Mayfield is seeking to appoint a PA to the Headmistress on a fixed term basis which is anticipated to end at Easter next year. This is a key role within the School and the successful applicant will have extensive administrative and secretarial experience and the personal skills to be operating at the most senior management level.

The successful applicant will be responsible for acting as the first line of contact with the Headmistress; her diary management; the maintenance of administrative systems and filing; for general secretarial and administrative duties.  This role involves engaging with a wide range of people and providing a warm welcome to visitors and other contacts whilst operating at the highest professional standards in support of the Headmistress.

Applicants must be experienced and have previously worked at senior management level. They will have a Positive, can-do personality with the ability to cover routine events or emergencies with equilibrium, confidence and style. Applicants will have excellent organisational skills recognising the importance of accuracy and attention to detail. They will have a sophisticated written style and good proofreading skills to enable them to prepare correspondence and reports and maintain records to a high standard. They will be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Applicants will be able to demonstrate discretion, tact and loyalty.

The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week with some flexibility required as there may be the need for some evening and weekend working. Salary will be dependent on experience.

Librarian (full time)
from Easter 2022

To support the teaching and learning at Mayfield we are seeking a School Librarian to provide and oversee the day to day running of a professional library service fit for the digital age. The candidate will work a 37.5 hour working week in term time (5 days a week) including an additional 10 days during the school holidays, although flexible hours may be considered for the right candidate.

At the heart of the School, our well-stocked library is a digital and physical literary hub for both students and staff. With access to a vast range of online subscriptions, newspapers, audio and ebooks in addition to a wealth of print resources there is something for everyone. As well as giving help and advice to staff and students when using the library services, the successful candidate will have a love of literature and be keen to play a key role in the life of the School, not least in inspiring both staff and pupils to read for pleasure.

Kitchen Porter -
£9.50 / £9.85 per hour

Mayfield School are looking for enthusiastic and flexible individuals to join our friendly, hardworking and creative Catering Team. Our Catering team are an integral part of the School community ensuing that our students and staff have a first class dining experience at every meal.

You don’t need previous experience to join our team although it helps– what’s important to us is what you bring as a person. If you have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a team, have a real passion for food and are as committed to providing a high level of service as we are, this could be the job for you. Full training will be provided for all new members of the team.

Currently we’re looking for a Kitchen Porter working full-time (37.5 hours per week) during term time (34 weeks of the year). Hours are predominantly Monday to Friday (08:30 to 17:00 with 30 minutes unpaid break) but there will be a requirement to work some weekends during term time.

Hours Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00 are paid at £9.50 per hour whilst all other hours are paid at £9.85 per hour. Practical, modern work wear is also provided.

Housekeeping Assistants - £9.50 / £9.85 per hour

We have a wide variety of hours available:

  • Monday to Friday 06:00 to 11:00
  • Monday to Friday 18:00 to 21:00 (term time only and full time roles are available).

Qualified Lifeguard

 Mayfield School, a Catholic Independent Boarding and Day School for girls, is seeking a part-time qualified Lifeguard to ensure high standards of safety for pool users.

The successful candidate will be required to work Tuesdays and Fridays 16.15 to 18.15 (4 hours per week) and one Saturday per half term working 2 hours per day, term time only.  Age appropriate enhanced minimum wage.

Candidates should have achieved and maintained the appropriate level of training, good communication skills and be able to remain calm under pressure. Candidates must be prepared to commit to the on-going training necessary to maintain their lifeguarding qualification.
