Minibus Drivers

 Hours - Part-time, morning and afternoons Monday to Friday
(23 hours per week)

Drivers are also paid for their attendance at weekly Drivers’ Meetings

Pay rate - £12.54 per hour whilst driving; £10.04 per hour for other hours worked


We are seeking friendly, reliable and motivated Minibus Drivers to join our existing team who provide safe and secure transport to students. 

The successful candidates will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, sound knowledge of the local area, be sensible and resourceful, and have a positive and flexible working attitude. We think of our drivers as ambassadors for the School so candidates must have excellent customer service skills and a pride in everything that they do.  A clean driving licence is essential and priority will be given to anyone with a Driver Qualification Card.  Please note that drivers must be over 25 years of age to comply with our insurance requirements. 

In addition to this we are also looking for a driver to take on a regular run after school (8 hours per week Monday to Thursday) due to an expansion of our Minibus Service. The successful candidate will also be required to help with basic maintenance (e.g. washing and fuelling vehicles) on a daily (2 hours per day) basis.  In addition to these regular hours, drivers have the opportunity to undertake ad hoc journeys e.g. airport runs or School outings, if they wish.

All of our drivers are professionally qualified and full training will be provided to the successful applicants. Drivers are paid for all hours of their training.

Full-time HR Administrator
£22,800 to £28,000
per annum

Mayfield School is looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable HR Administrator to join its team on a full time basis. Working closely with the School's HR Manager and other senior staff this is an opportunity for someone who wants to advance their career in Human Resources, learning best practice and developing their understanding of HR processes and procedures. This role will ideally suit someone who already has worked in an HR Department but is looking for a role which can provide the opportunity to develop their professional HR skills alongside their administrative ones.

The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week (07:30 – 16:00 Monday to Friday) throughout the year.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent administration and communication skills. They will be proficient IT users and have experience of working with HR databases. They will be resilient, calm under pressure and understand the need for confidentiality and discretion.

Applicants will have previous HR administration experience ideally in a regulated environment although full training will be provided. Previous experience of working in a School would be an advantage but is not essential.

Pastry Chef (full-time)

Mayfield School is looking for an experienced and creative Pastry Chef to join our amazing team. Our Catering team are an integral part of the School community ensuring that our students and staff have a first class dining experience at every meal. They also provide exceptional cakes, biscuits and desserts for the wide range of functions that we run throughout the year.

You will be involved with menu planning and the preparation of cakes, pastries and snacks providing delicious and healthy deserts which complement the varied and exciting menu served 7 days of the week.  You will be innovative, passionate and have high attention to detail. 

You will have previous commercial catering experience ideally with specialist experience. Whilst experience of working in a School is not essential you must have experience of catering for large numbers. Equally important is what you bring to the team in terms of personality and sense of humour! 

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week (07:00 to 15:30 Monday to Friday).

Salad Bar Assistant/Kitchen Service Assistant
Term-Time Only
£ 15,875 per annum

Mayfield School are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our friendly, hardworking and creative Catering Team. Our Catering team are an integral part of the School community ensuring that our students and staff have a first class dining experience at every meal.

You don’t need previous experience to join our team although it helps - what’s important to us is what you bring as a person. If you are used to working to a high standard of hygiene, have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a team and are as committed to providing a high level of service as we are, this could be the job for you. Full training will be provided along with practical, modern work wear.

Currently we’re looking for a Salad Bar Assistant/Kitchen Service Assistant working term-time only (40 hours per week). Hours are predominantly Monday to Friday (09:00 – 17:30 with 30 minutes unpaid break) but there may be a requirement to work some weekends and evenings during term-time.

Supper Chef
(Term Time only)

Mayfield School is looking for an experienced and creative Chef to join our Catering Team. Our Catering team are an integral part of the School community ensuring that our students and staff have a first class dining experience at every meal.

You will be responsible for the menu design and preparation of supper providing highly nutritious, well presented, quality meals to our boarders. You will be responsible for running the Kitchen during evening service ensuring that the team work together to deliver the high quality meals that are expected.

You will have previous commercial catering experience ideally within a similar environment. You will have experience of managing a team and will be passionate about food. Equally important is what you bring to the team in terms of personality and sense of humour! 

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week during term time (11:00 am to 7:30 pm Sunday to Thursday).

Housekeeping Assistant - £9.90/£10.25 per hour

Mayfield School are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our friendly, hardworking and passionate team of Housekeeping staff. Our team are an integral part of the School community ensuring that we can provide the very best environment for our students to both study and live in.

You don’t need previous experience to join our team – what’s important to us is what you bring as a person. If you have excellent communication skills, are equally happy working on your own as in a team, have a good eye for detail and are as committed to providing a high level of service as we are, this could be the job for you. We have the following hours available:
Monday to Friday 07:00 - 11:00
Hours worked Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00 are paid at £9.90 per hour whilst all other hours are paid at £10.25 per hour.
