Year 9 Admissions
Life at Mayfield
Deferred Year 9 Entry and Standard Year 9 Entry
At Mayfield School there are two routes for admission at 13+: Deferred Entry (for pupils in Year 6) and Standard Entry (for pupils in Year 8).
Our Deferred Entry route for 13+ entry is ideal for applicants for whom Mayfield is first choice as parents often seek the reassurance of knowing their daughter's senior school in advance, allowing them to enjoy the final years at their current school with a clear path ahead.

13+ Deferred Entry Process
Applicants wishing to secure a 13+ Deferred Entry place should apply by October in Year 6. Places will be awarded following successful performances in our 11+ entrance papers or ISEB Common Pre-Test, interview with a senior member of staff, and upon receipt of a supportive reference from the candidate’s current school.
We can also offer 13+ Deferred Entry to girls in Year 7 wishing to join Mayfield in Year 9; please contact the Admissions Department for more information registrar@mayfieldgirls.org
Students applying through the 13+ Deferred Entry route will be considered alongside the 11+ applicants when awarding Academic scholarships as part of the Year 6 November entrance testing.
13+ Deferred Entry route students can apply for Creative Art, Performing Art and Sport scholarships and will be tested alongside the other 11+ and 13+ applicants as part of the Year 6 January assessment day.
13+ Standard Entry Process
For families who decide to follow the standard entry route, entrance or Academic scholarship assessments are held in the autumn term of Year 8 prior to entry into Year 9 the following September, and in January of Year 8 for Creative Art, Performing Art and Sport scholarships.
Candidates taking this entry route will sit the School’s own Assessments in English, Mathematics, Science and Reasoning. The School will determine the offer of a place on the basis of results from the papers outlined above, an interview with the Headmistress and Head of Middle School, and the confidential reference and progress report provided by her current school.
Late Entry
For candidates who have missed the November Assessments places may still be available. Please contact our Director of Admissions, Shirley Coppard at registrar@mayfieldgirls.org or +44 (0)1435 874600 ext418.
Offers
Offer letters will be sent out by Christmas. If the School makes a formal offer of a place and the parents choose to accept it, they will be required to complete an Acceptance Form and return it with a deposit within a fixed period of time in order to secure the place.
