Riding Success

Our Equestrian Squad regularly competes on the School Equestrian circuit, winning frequently in show jumping, dressage and eventing classes, both as a team and on an individual basis. Our elite squad of riders supported by our in-house team has consistently surpassed both our and their expectations. To achieve this level of success requires hard work, courage, determination, team work and excellent support.

Our girls compete regularly throughout the year, helping to cement the School’s excellent equestrian record. For many of our girls, the success that they achieve in riding is one of the most significant experiences of their time at the School.

Camilla Le May -  Internationally renowned sculptor, Camilla Le May, first discovered her love of clay while studying at Mayfield School. A keen rider who grew up on her parents’ farm, Camilla went on to be elected as an Associate Member of the Society of Equestrian Artists and has won a number of prestigious awards. Her work ranges from silver jewellery to her monumental, life-size bronze of Sefton, a British Army horse who was critically injured in the Hyde Park and Regent’s Park bombings which killed seven other horses and 11 people. Sefton recovered sufficiently to return to active service and was subsequently awarded ‘Horse of the Year’ and had an annual award named after him. Camilla’s sculpture was commissioned by the Royal Veterinary College and unveiled by the Princess Royal in 2013.
