Boarding
House life is rooted in the values of the School - care and respect for one another, charity and forgiveness. The heart of each House lies in the joy and delight the girls derive from each other’s company. Friendships are formed here which last long after our girls have left Mayfield. The fullness of the boarding experience fosters their development into caring, communicative and engaged young women who, at every turn, enrich the world they enter.

Mayfield is a school built on the principles of trust, respect and love for each member of the community.
We nurture and celebrate each individual, but also engender in our girls an awareness and appreciation of the needs and gifts of others. Good interaction between staff and pupils results from supportive relationships, and we are justly proud of our pastoral care.

At Mayfield, we endeavour to live by our motto of ‘Actions Not Words’ in all areas of school life and in all interactions with others. Our primary focus is to provide an excellent education based on the seven Cornelian Principles laid out by Cornelia Connelly when she founded the School, and to prepare students for the world beyond Mayfield.

Diocesan and Parish Links

Mayfield is in the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton and appreciates strong links with the Education Service. The Head of Religious Studies, Lay Chaplain and other staff benefit from the wide range of training and support offered and the school enjoys opportunities to partake in diocesan events such as the annual Good Shepherd's Mass.

Mayfield's Headmistress, Deborah Bligh, is the Bishop’s Independent School representative on the Diocesan Education Committee.
