SPARK Specialist Teachers and Assistants

Mayfield SPARK Camp is different to other providers in that the majority of teachers involved in the programme have direct links to Mayfield School, either as teachers, former teachers, parents, old girls or current students. This is a huge benefit to the children as the teachers all are very familiar with the buildings, and they are often delivering their specialist subject in their own classroom.

Creative Arts Teachers

Hannah Oliver runs a range of fantastic art classes for all age groups within the SPARK programme. Her boundless creativity sees students making fish, birds, animals and aliens using a range of techniques. She also offers a very popular Photoshop course.

Cookery Teachers

Claire Davies and Sharon Rothero are both passionate about teaching young people to cook. They carefully choose a range of ingredients and dishes to stretch the childrens’ skills, and classes are always full. They are happy to cater for allergies and each day the children bring home their creations.

Ceramics Teacher

In 2018, the children were fortunate to be taught ceramics by Mayfield’s experienced teacher, Yo McFadyean, and her daughter Brontë. The work that the children produced was phenomenal!

Textiles Teacher

Textiles expert Hannah Robertson runs a popular textiles class at SPARK camp, in which the children develop their skills to make aprons, pencil cases, pillows and dream catchers.
